The Function of Electric Garage Heaters

You know it’s time to get yourself a garage heater when you find that you cannot actually do much work in the garage during the cold winter months. If your garage is an attached one, adding a heater is not difficult as all you have to do is add a heating duct to the garage. If your garage is a detached one, don’t worry as you still have various options.

The most popular and easiest option you have are electric garage heaters. These heaters are the better choice for use in small areas that require little heating or in garages where it is difficult to install gas and hot water garage heaters.

Electric heaters should be used only if you are sure you have sufficient power to use it without any breaks.Basically, a 100 amp service is sufficient; however to be on the safer side, it is better to note the heater’s power specs before using it.

Electric heaters are easy to install, can be easily used after installation and are usually available in the compact form. These heaters are practically maintenance free, especially if compared to other types of heaters. Most of the portable heaters found today are electric garage heaters.

Some garage heaters will come with a mounting kit so you can have the exact equipment for making sure that your heater is placed in a convenient out of the way place. Depending on your garage, you can place your heater either on the wall or the ceiling. Obviously if you have an overhead opening garage door, it may not be possible to place your heater on the ceiling. You can choose a model which needs to be wired directly to your electrics or you can get one that has a plug which can just be plugged into an available socket.
